In depth

Verdict

Paul Carberry has a tremendous book of rides today and DEFINITE CLASS looks another winner for him. Dessie Hughes' mare, runner-up in a Listed hurdle here in March, made a satisfactory debut over fences at Naas in October and was most unfortunate in a Grade 3 at Clonmel the following month won by Blazing Tempo as she was brought down at the last when still in contention. Grey Soldier was thrown in at the deep end on his chasing debut in a Grade 3 at Galway and, though not showing much improvement at Thurles, is expected to do better. Shane Rock can provide the main threat, however, as he was only four lengths adrift of Blackstairmountain at Clonmel and the winner landed a Grade 1 at Leopardstown on Monday.
