In depth

Verdict

Immediate Response began his winning run in handicaps over hurdles last season off a mark of 92 and ended up 40lb higher though he couldn't cope with that mark in a very tough Punchestown handicap. He makes his debut over fences at an advanced age but his pedigree suggests jumping them won't be a problem. He's likely to be at short odds, however, and faces a stiff task against STONY GREY SOIL and Gerdalia with preference just for the former. He's never been the most consistent of performers but produced his best run so far over fences when narrowly beaten by Pineau De Re at Thurles and a repeat may be good enough. Gerdalia has the mare's allowance and has enough experience to make her presence felt but winning hurdler Masked Phantom ran poorly on his chasing bow at Navan.
