In depth

Verdict

Eagle Spirit made a bright start for Joseph O'Brien over 7f here a fortnight ago when third behind surprise winner Currency Converter. He was going on steadily at the finish so today's trip and easier going should see him difficult to beat. However, Aidan O'Brien has a pair of choicely-bred Galileo colts entered and one of them, DIODORUS, is handed the vote. He carries the colours of his breeder Stavros Niarchos who owns him in conjunction with Coolmore. His dam is the high-class Divine Proportion, winner of the French 1000 Guineas and Oaks so he has plenty to live up to. Venezuela is out of a 7f winner and it will be intriguing to see if there is any major support for him. Neoclassical looked in need of experience here earlier this month and should do better over this extra furlong.
