Self Belief won this last year and remains unbeaten on the track after landing a Group 3 in July. SPREWELL's two early-season victories, including the Derby Trial here, came on heavy ground. His three latest runs have all been at the highest level and is this is a significant drop in class. Layfayette is a tough and consistent performer at this level and landed a Curragh Group 3 in August while Boogie Woogie has raced exclusively at Group level since landing a soft-ground Naas maiden. Mashia wasn't at her best in the Group 2 Blandford Stakes at the Curragh but has never raced on this sort of ground.
