A couple of three-year-olds have won this in recent years and there are plenty from the younger generation involved here including Battleoftheboyne, who scored over 5f at the Curragh last time but has no problems with this trip. Dougal Philps is another youngster with potential as he was having just his fifth start when landing a Ballinrobe maiden. That was over 1m1f and his previous start had been over 1m4f but he has plenty of pace and with his low weight is entitled to respect. Russian Soul is in tremendous form though an 11lb rise makes things difficult so JAMESIE is handed the vote in a very tricky event. He ran well to finish sixth in the race a year ago and, though he hasn't won subsequently, he's performed with credit in plenty of tough handicaps including when runner-up in the Buckingham Palace at Royal Ascot. He was conceding 15lb to Bold Thady Quill when narrowly beaten at Naas and should have no problems reversing the form on these terms. Flic Flac and Seanie are others to consider in a wide-open handicap.
