Verdict

With half of the six entries, Aidan O'Brien makes a bold bid to win a race in which he's saddled the likes of Galileo, High Chaparral and Yeats to success. BROOME looks the stable pick after his neck defeat by Royal Marine in a Group 1 at Longchamp in October and he had Sydney Opera House over 3l behind when runner-up to Madhmoon in a Group 2 here earlier. Sovereign makes up the Coolmore entries and though his overall form doesn't match that of his stable companions he was also much more likely to do better as a three-year-old. He finished just over 2l behind Guaranteed in a Group 3 here in October for which Jim Bolger's colt picks up a penalty. Tankerville was odds-on for his debut at Gowran and had no problems obliging and his stable can do no wrong while Pythion dead-heated on his debut here in July but finished behind fourth-placed Sovereign in a Naas Group 3 later.
