Warrigal made a winning start at Kempton but has been disappointing subsequently and could only finish runner-up in a handicap at this level there last time. Hunting Ground's last two runs have been over 2m and his latest success came over even further so this small field is hardly likely to play to his strengths. The same can be said for KINGS BAYONET, who has won over 2m4f over hurdles but he was having only his third start in two years when a very good third to Civil War over 1m6f at Goodwood and hopefully he'll have enough pace for this.
Kings Bayonet 20-1 (9-10) Retrained start, held up in rear, headway over 1f out, soon ridden, kept on towards finish, 3rd of 13, 2 1/4l behind Civil War (9-7) at Goodwood 1m 6f hcp 0-75 (5) gs.
Hunting Ground (USA) 33-1 (8-12) Led early, tracked leaders, pushed along over 5f out, ridden and weakened over 4f out, behind and eased final furlong, last of 17, 39l behind Villa Royale (9-10) at York 2m hcp 0-90 (3) gd.
Warrigal (IRE) 7-1 (9-7) Keen close up, ridden to chase winner over 1f out, ran on, 2nd of 12, 1 1/4l behind Conquestadim (9-4) at Kempton 1m 3f hacp 0-70 (5) pol in Apr.
