Verdict

Unseasonally fast ground for this chase, which can be taken by Heather Dalton-trained Bay Island. Admittedly the six-year-old wouldn't want the ground too fast, but the gelding has won with plenty in hand on his last two starts and can defy a 13lb rise for that last win to score here. Channahrlie has a 6lb pull with the selection for that 10 length defeat at Warwick earlier in the month, but it would be a surprise judged on that running if he is able to reverse the form here. He should again run into a place. Scoring Pedigree is set to carry top weight, and he too should have place claims based on his latest performance, a three length second to Hell-Of-A-Shindy at Wincanton the other day, though this trip is stretching his stamina to the limit - though the ground is in his favour. The remainder don't make too much appeal from out of the handicap, though Coolteen Hero is a course and distance winner and is a stone below he was when he recorded that success a year ago, so it would not be that much of a surprise if he puts in a big run.
