Trainer Patrick Haslam clearly has an affinity with this race having won it for the past three seasons but we'll take on his entry this year, Green Day Packer, with HARLEQUINN DANSEUR. The Gary Moore-trained selection is open to improvement and receives plenty of weight from the Haslam inmate here. He handles some cut in the ground and has shown enough in two runs over hurdles to suggest that he can get off the mark here. Green Day Packer would prefer faster ground and of course he also has that weight differential to cope with and logic says that he must be opposed. Goldan Jess is well in at these weights and if he can run to anything like his official rating then he would have a very good chance, but he may be overrated and like all of these consistency is not his strong suit. A P McCoy is booked for Deadline, which may well help his cause and if he could reproduce his Sedgefield effort from September then he'd be involved, but there are doubts over the ground for him. Titfer is rated around 50 on the flat, which would give him a squeak here if he takes to hurdles and with his trainer Tony Carroll doing well in this sphere take a look at the market for some more clues, but without that knowledge we'll side with Harlequinn Danseur.
