A high draw proved to be a disadvantage at Redcar earlier in the week and GORAK should do better in this having earlier finished ahead of Ascot Adventure when scoring at Doncaster. He’s due to be raised by 5lb more than today’s penalty. Dashing Dick won this off the same mark last year though on faster going while Tylos has yet to encounter heavy ground and still looks high enough in the weights. Amber Island and Soar Above have both done most of their winning on the all-weather.
Soar Above 100-1 (8-8) Held up in 6th, wide home turn, ridden and beaten over 1f out, last of 8, 6 1/2l behind Mount Athos (9-2) at Kempton 7f hcp (2) pol in Mar.
Tylos (FR) 7-2 (9-11) Led, pushed along and edged left over 1f out, ridden and headed inside final furlong, no extra, 4th of 10, 1l behind Titan Rock (9-7) at Wolverhampton 7f hcp (4) pol in Mar.
Gorak (FR) 10-3fav (8-11) Chased leaders on outer, pushed along over 2f out, ran on from over 1f out, never going pace to challenge, 7th of 14, 3 1/2l behind The Cookstown Cafu (8-10) at Redcar 7f hcp (3) sft in Apr.
Dashing Dick (IRE) 11-1 (9-1) Tracked leaders, ridden over 1f out, stayed on one pace final furlong, 4th of 10, 2l behind Unforgotten (9-10) at Lingfield 1m hcp (4) pol in Feb.
Amber Island (IRE) 22-1 (8-10) Raced wide and never closer than mid-division, 9th of 10, 9 1/2l behind Mums Tipple (9-9) at Chelmsford City 7f hcp (2) pol in Mar.
Ascot Adventure 11-2 (9-9) Led 1f, tracked leader, ridden 2f out, kept on one pace final furlong, 5th of 12, 7 3/4l behind Gorak (8-12) at Doncaster 7f hcp (4) sft in Apr.
