Tony The Gent makes a quick reappearance after battling on behind Turnberry Isle here on Wednesday and the winner looks a very progressive type. Yuften is at his best giving weight away in claimers and his stable companion Allegio, a winner over 7f at this fixture two years ago, looks the better option despite an absence since September. MARSHALL JENNINGS (NAP) landed a Cork handicap in April and had a break before a close third in a Curragh handicap last month, form that would make him difficult to beat off the same mark. Wentwood is well enough handicapped to make his presence felt though this could prove on the short side.
Allegio (IRE) 8-1 (9-9) Mid-division and 6th from halfway, soon pushed along and weakened to rear, no extra and eased from over 2f out, 14th of 15, dist behind Panstarr (9-4) at Listowel 1m 1f lst stks (1) sft in Sep.
Marshall Jennings (IRE) 14-1 (10-0) Soon disputed lead, led inside first 2f, pushed along from 2f out, soon joined, narrowly headed over 1f out, kept on without matching front pair inside final furlong, 3rd of 13, 1 1/4l behind Basic Law (8-9) at Curragh 1m hcp gd in Jun.
Tony The Gent (IRE) 5-1 (9-11) Towards rear and in rear from halfway, pushed along on outer from 2f out and soon went 3rd, ridden and no impression in 3rd from 1f out, kept on into 2nd inside final furlong, not threatening winner, 2nd of 5, 3 3/4l behind Turnberry Isle (9-5) at Killarney 1m gd in Jul.
Yuften 11-8fav (10-0) Soon raced in 7th, travelling smoothly and improved to lead from 2f out, stayed on well to assert inside final furlong, won at Bellewstown 1m gd in Jul beating Basrah Breeze (9-1) by 2l, 13 ran.
Sirjack Thomas (IRE) 25-1 (11-7) Mid-division, no impression from 3 out, never a factor, 14th of 20, dist behind Star Max (11-7) at Gowran Park 2m mdn Yielding in Feb.
Wentwood 11-2cfav (8-6) A little keen, waited with, 6th after halfway, pushed along before straight, switched left to challenge 1 1/2f out, kept on without matching front pair inside final furlong, 3rd of 9, 1 1/4l behind Magnetic North (8-8) at Leopardstown 1m 2f hcp gf in Jul.
Master Speaker (IRE) 14-1 (8-11) Waited with, a little keen, 11th approaching halfway, pushed along under 3f out, kept on same pace without threatening inside final furlong, 10th of 13, 3 1/2l behind Basic Law (8-9) at Curragh 1m hcp gd in Jun.
