Verdict

Bob Lingo warmed up for his spectacular victory in the Galway Plate by running second in this a year ago. He was beaten 12l, however, and will surely find the ground too quick this time. Aidan O'Brien was the successful trainer last year and though today's representative Royal Irish Hussar was beaten out of sight on his belated debut in April there's probably much more to come. Train Of Thought, a novice hurdle winner at last season's Galway Festival, is another likely to be warming up for another crack and there must have been something amiss with Gerdago at Tipperary last time as he'd shown promise earlier. LAGAN CANAL has won two of his last three races in bumpers on fast going and should have enough pace to see off these rivals with conditions in his favour.
