THEMANINTHEBOOTS showed his inexperience in the closing stages at Killarney but was only beaten a length and should have come on enough to take this. Realistic Optimism was returning from a break when runner-up to a smart one at Limerick when the remainder were a long way behind. Slate Gray has disappointed since a promising opening run so Applejack Poet, who is bred for the Flat, may prove best of the remainder.
