Verdict

Frodon won this in 2020 but was only fourth last year and more than seven lengths behind ELDORADO ALLEN in last month’s Betfair Chase at Haydock. The latter was more than three lengths behind Bravemansgame, who beat Ahoy Senor in the Kauto Star at this meeting last year, in the Charlie Hall at Wetherby on his reappearance but is better off at the weights so the huge difference in their forecast starting prices doesn’t seem justified. Joe Tizzard’s grey, who beat Royale Pagaille in last season’s Denman, had the pace to finish third in the Ryanair in March so this easy 3m should be right up his street and shocks are not uncommon in this Grade 1. Envoi Allen proved his stamina when winning the Champion Chase at Down Royal last month but Hitman and Millers Bank seem best around 2m4f. L'Homme Presse looks a threat to all, however, as his only defeat over fences so far came when he’d probably had enough for the season when third behind Ahoy Senor at Aintree in April.
