Verdict
Smart Mover is the pick over L'Oudon, with Magnesium and Executive Paddy also worth a mention. Smart Mover has been runner-up on each of his last two starts, at Uttoxeter and Cheltenham, and with the ground perhaps being a bit softer than ideal for him, this drop back in trip will suit. He looks destined to go over fences as he creeps up the handicap, but hopefully things will fall right for the seven-year-old today as he returns from a two-month break. L'Oudon was a beaten favourite at Taunton when first-time blinkers failed to do the trick. However, he was staying on nicely at the finish, and this slightly longer journey should help his cause. Magnesium was another to leave the money in the bookies' satchels when making too many mistakes at Newbury. Prior to that though he had looked the part when beating Cottingham at Sandown and cannot be ruled out. Executive Paddy is only selling class, but lines up fit from a spell on the all-weather, and it would be no surprise if he made a bid for the frame at least, while Predator will have his supporters if only for the fact that A P is on board. Fontanesi has been off for six-months, but that means nothing with the Pipe stable adept at producing them fit, so he is yet another to mention, but Smart Mover is our idea of the winner in the finale.
