      Verdict

The opening race might by now have told you something about the effect, or otherwise, of the draw at Kempton; that said, it's a moot point at the time of asking, but we will stick with a low number in choosing Roman Quintet ahead of Glad Big and Set Alight. The selection caught the eye last time staying on well behind a very progressive type in Bayeux. That was his first run since the summer and normal improvement alone from it should see him go well today. Mandarin Spirit proved himself to be in good heart by winning at Wolverhampton last time and, overall, still remains competitively weighted, while Glad Big can be rated as a winner based on his latest outing, and the handicapper has raised him three pounds for his pains. He is not the most straightforward but he'll win a race of this nature sooner rather than later. Quantum Leap comes here in good heart and remains on a competitive rating, while Set Alight caught the eye running on behind him last time and is not ruled out of running well today. Finally, Binanti is entitled to some thought off his current mark and Conjuror ended last season on a high and should have more to come, although he lacks all-weather experience. Overall, then, once again, we will stick with Roman Quintet.
