Verdict

PYM still holds an entry in next month’s Champion Bumper and overcame a lack of experience to beat a host of subsequent winners at Ayr last April. He hasn’t raced since but fitness is unlikely to be an issue and he can maintain his unbeaten record. Saturdaynightfever was a bit disappointing when favourite at Ascot in the autumn but still has time on his side. Potters Tale can improve on his second at Ffos Las but Huntingdon runner-up Special Acceptance has the stronger form. Danny Kirwan won between the flags at Lisronagh in October and has joined the Nicholls yard while Brigade of Guards is also a newcomer to note.
