John Gosden had a chance with a newcomer in the first division and CHINA CLUB may well prove good enough in this. He's a half-brother to three winners, most notably top-class mare and stablemate The Fugue, and the Derby entry could go close. He has Legend's Gate and Great Glen to beat as the latter pair finished practically upsides at Newmarket recently when third and fourth respectively. Spanish Squeeze also made a decent start at Newmarket when placed over 7f and is preferred to the so-far disappointing Imperial War.
