MAJOR VALENTINE is rapidly improving and bids for a hat-trick of course and distance wins after scoring by seven lengths here last time. He can defy a hike in the weights and is preferred to Star Fire, who has recorded both wins to date over the minimum trip. Lady Gemini also scored over 5f at Bath in June while Alhella posted her best effort in a handicap so far when fourth at Redcar a fortnight ago. Corporal Maddox has slipped down the weights and a better effort at Chepstow last time suggests he can go well.
