Nicky Henderson's Trabolgan is probably the horse with the best form on offer in this contest but with so many unexposed runners in opposition this is not a contest to get too heavily involved in. A four-length second of 14 behind Plastic Paddy (second in better race behind Patricksnineteenth at Sandown since), represents fair form by the Trevor Hemmings-owned gelding and, with improvement to come, he looks the one to beat. Robert Alner's Distant Thunder belied starting odds of 33/1 to finish second to Hawk's Landing (Le Diamont and Mach Four behind) over course and distance last month and is closely matched with the selection on a, probably unreliable, line through Patricksnineteenth. Grouse Moor looks the best of the remainder with racecourse experience. Of the newcomers Henrietta Knight's Over The River gelding Chelsea Bridge, Castleford from the yard of Philip Hobbs and another Robert Alner inmate Barnards Green, who is by Florida Son all make some appeal but the most interesting of all the debutantes is Lupin. Francois Doumen's raiders always warrant respect and, in receipt of weight from older horses, a market move for the four-year-old would be significant.
