In depth

Verdict

INDEPENDENT ACT scored over 1m2f at Lingfield on last month’s debut. The Godolphin colt is preferred to stablemate Wild Crusade fitted with a tongue-tie today and an apprentice’s allowance negating a penalty. Rab Havlin partners another Godolphin representative in Mariinsky of his yard’s three runners and blinkers could spark improvement but Nova Legend looks a bigger threat on a close-up fourth at Newcastle. Hoffman and the newcomer Bateau Bay are others to note.
