Mataram's defeat of High Octave last time reads well in the context of this race and he is taken to follow up from Imperial Gain, Neardown Beauty and Satin Doll. The selection looked straight enough for that reappearance and is bred to improve on his juvenile form as an older horse. This trip suits and the track should not inconvenience, although it is his first time right-handed, but we take him to go in again in a race that should not take too much winning. Like the selection Imperial Gain has a decent draw and was not beaten far at Leicester over this trip last time. Fast ground suits and so this surface should be ideal, and we'll take him to go close again. Neardown Beauty was a 7f winner at Lingfield last month but has struggled off this sort of mark since and will probably be found wanting once more, while Satin Doll drops back in trip and has shown enough so far to suggest she can get involved here. But Mataram sets the standard and can score.
