In depth

Verdict

Nothing leaps off the page here but JAKE THE SNAKE is fancied to make a winning transition to handicaps having mopped up in claiming races of late. Tony Carroll's flashy chestnut runs this track well and he has a good draw to work from today. Amy Baker gets on well with the gelding and although a move back into handicap company demands some more improvement, nothing comes here in better form than he. Having A Ball is a course and distance winner but he was very disappointing when last seen in December and doesn't look one to get carried away with. Marmooq is another who put in a rare poor run last time, whilst horses such as Cross The Line and Marajaa return from absences and need a precautionary check in the betting. Amongst the plethora of course and distance winners, Millfield and Dinner Date strike as two with the form in races such as these which make them of interest once again despite not coming here in top form. A terrifically trappy, tricky, tumultuously testing handicap and narrow preference is for Jake The Snake.
