Hasapop has yet to win in 11 starts on the all-weather and stablemate LINTON (NAP) is preferred here. The latter was expected to do better in a Listed contest at Newmarket last time but was up against much higher rated rivals than this and should make a bold bid today. Frontier Fighter saves his best for Southwell but was below par at that track last week and the progressive Unforgiving Minute makes more appeal on the back of a course double. Valbchek ran well in a handicap here a week ago while the returning Rain God won at Dundalk for Aidan O'Brien and debuts for a new yard.
Frontier Fighter 2-1 (9-7) Raced wide tracked leaders, pushed along 3f out, ridden and stayed on to go 3rd inside final furlong, not trouble leaders, 3rd of 6, 8l behind Pearl Nation (8-7) at Southwell 7f hcp (2) fbs.
Hasopop (IRE) 10-1 (9-5) In touch, ridden and headway over 1f out, no impression final furlong, 7th of 12, 3 1/2l behind Lancelot Du Lac (9-8) at Lingfield 6f hcp (2) pol.
Linton (AUS) 10-1 (9-1) In touch in rear, ridden and headway approaching final furlong, no impression final furlong, 4th of 8, 7l behind French Navy (9-7) at Newmarket 1m Listed stks (1) gd in Nov.
Rain God (USA) 16-1 (9-3) Prominent and led before halfway, ridden early straight and headed well over 1f out, no extra and weakened, eased when beaten, last of 18, 23l behind Tobann (9-3) at Leopardstown 7f hcp gd in Aug '13.
Unforgiving Minute 5-4fav (9-5) Took keen hold, held up in mid-division, switched left, travelling well 3f out, headway soon after, ridden to lead over 1f out, edged left under pressure inside final furlong, ran on, won at Kempton 1m hcp 0-90 (3) pol in Nov beating Aqua Ardens (9-4) by nk, 12 ran.
