Verdict
Brian Ellison has his string firing on all cylinders and his Palomar has been in cracking form on the level and over hurdles. The one worry would be today's trip, at which he's struggled in the past. On that basis we prefer THE BETCHWORTH KID, who clearly found 2m1f too sharp on his return to hurdling at Newbury in November. That was still a commendable effort by Alan King's charge, however, who was back to form on the Flat at the back end of last year - he is on an attractive mark here. Barwell Bridge has appreciated the step up in distance in his last two starts and should be thereabouts again, but Organisateur may be in the handicapper's grip now and Drill Sergeant continues to look a tricky ride. Last month's Cheltenham third Premier Dane is on a long losing run but likes the hurly-burly of these big handicaps and looks the pick of the lightweights.
