In depth

Verdict

Liberty Valance can defy topweight at the main expense of Affirmatively and Bertbrand. The selection failed to justify strong market support on his debut when running green but he has shown improved form on both of his two subsequent outings and should have more in the locker. He only needed to be ridden out to get the better of a short-priced Mark Johnston jolly last time and is taken to follow up. Bertbrand spoilt his chance of recording back to back successes by pulling too hard and hanging last time and may be worth another chance. Affirmatively also showed a worrying tendency to hang last time when returning from a short break. She could resume an upward curve if that kink has been ironed out and is respected. Extreme North may improve for the fitting of a visor and merits a market check on his handicap bow but Liberty Valance can give weight and a beating to his rivals.
