In depth

Verdict

A few of these have been running well in amateur races including Epsom Salts, who scored at Goodwood in October. Squad landed an amateur event at Wolverhampton last time and Henry Holmes went close over today's trip at Lingfield last week. WILD DESERT won a more conventional handicap at Wolverhampton on his latest outing and, given he was an easy winner, Charlie Longsdon's charge is taken to defy a penalty and follow up. C&D winner Calculating looks in need of some respite from the handicapper, however, and the same comment applies to July's Yarmouth winner Dr Finley.
