In depth

Verdict

Pete The Feat has looked an out-and-out stayer this season so a drop in distance on this sharp course may not be ideal and he's gone up a further 3lb since finishing third in a Grade 3 at Warwick last month. Cheltenham second Renard D'irlande, on the other hand, is trying 3m for the first time though if he is going to get home it will be on a track similar to this. Alvarado and Top Smart look high enough in the weights but Baile Anrai isn't badly handicapped, though didn't jump very well over track and trip last time. State Benefit is becoming increasingly erratic but PRINCE OF PIRATES can be forgiven his run at Leopardstown over Christmas. The better ground here is very much in his favour and he shouldn't be written off just yet. Moleskin is a course and distance winner and looks the pick of the remainder now his stable is back in business.
