In depth

Verdict

Tanks For That is preferred to War Footing and Gershwin although Bump In The Night and Master Charm clearly merit respect. The selection hails from an in-form yard that has plenty of strength in depth in this sphere. He looks the part on paper and is reported to have been working well ahead of this debut. Gershwin was backed into favouritism on debut but failed to come up with the goods; heavy ground at Warwick may not have been ideal and it's too soon to write him off. There should also be more to come from Bump In The Night and Master Charm but War Footing could emerge as the principal threat. He made a pleasing introductory effort at Ludlow which should have taught him plenty about the game. The form may not be the strongest but a more experienced jockey takes over in the saddle and considerably better is expected. As ever, the market will prove useful but we'll take a chance with the newcomer, Tanks For That.
