Verdict

PUNCHBOWL FLYER showed improved form to land a novice auction stakes at Brighton and the form has been franked by the runner-up, Laikaparty, who has won since. The Dream Ahead colt moves back up to 7f now but looks progressive and an opening mark of 74 is workable. Top Buck finished in mid-division in the York race won by Mums Tipple in devastating fashion and will be happier in these calmer waters as previous efforts read well enough in the context of this race. Xcelente returns after a gelding operation, Written Broadcast is preferred of the Hannon duo and Born To Destroy didn't run at all badly in a hot nursery at the Ebor meeting.
