    In depth

    Formwatch

Bonaguil (USA) Unplaced in four efforts to date this term, but by no means disgraced on last start when close fifth at Ascot in race won by Scheming; won at Newbury last back-end in testing conditions; has mostly run over shorter, but does have some form over this trip; course winner.

Thundering Surf Beat Mana D'Argent at Ascot before a close third to Rajam at Newbury last month; consistent performer.

Hannibal Lad Two lengths sixth to Thundering Surf at Ascot preceded unplaced run in competitive York handicap; seems best when produced with late run.

Adelphi Theatre (USA) Lightly raced ex-Irish performer; won Folkestone classified contest in July, absent since; well beaten on only try over this trip.

Pole Star Won Leicester maiden in May; best effort last time when good fourth to Alphaeus in tough handicap at Newmarket July Meeting; probably has more improvement to come; first attempt at a mile and a half.

St Helensfield Off the track for over a year but fitness not normally a problem with runners from the Martin Pipe stable; won twice last season and stays well.

Rajam Battled on well to score in Newbury classified race last time out, following maiden success over this course and distance; likely to have some improvement still to come.

Soller Bay Placed in Ayr and Hamilton handicaps this season; won 9f contest at former venue last year; first time at this trip; seems best on easy ground.

Bid For Fame (USA) Has been running well without winning so far this season, including when close second to Establishment at Ascot in July; suited by this mile and a half distance.

Spring Pursuit Stays well, but has been right out of form on last four outings; last won at Epsom on soft ground in April.

Little Pippin Has been beaten nine times since winning over course and trip in 1999; back to decent handicap rating, but was well beaten in third in small field at Pontefract last time.

Torrential Storm (USA) Won on his debut at Pontefract in May; followed with a fourth in Epsom conditions race in July; first time over this trip; improvement possible as lightly raced.

Star Cast (IRE) Runner-up over 1m6f to Lord Joshua here in June, then fifth to Establishment at Ascot over this trip the following month ;coming back off nearly two months absence.

Total Care Not beaten too far when fourth to Watchkeeper at Lingfield last time, following three-month absence; only win came over this course and distance on fast ground last year; stable is in very good form.
