Verdict

Comeonginger landed a little race at Fontwell in April and reappeared on that track to win a better handicap from a 7lb higher mark. He jumped well and won comfortably so has to be on the shortlist. Chicklemix won handicaps at this level at Towcester and Wetherby and didn't look suited by very testing ground at Catterick later. He's another with a good chance but it's BERTIE'S DESIRE who gets the vote as he followed a victory at Huntingdon with another in better class over this course and distance. He's run well in both subsequent starts and looks capable of further progress. Lemon's Gent will enjoy the quick ground better than most as it was very fast when he scored over an extended two miles at Worcester in May. Gandale is 6lb higher than his only victory to date at Huntingdon a year ago and Vision Des Champs hasn't shown much since arriving from France.
