In depth

Verdict

Some potential improvers here including LADY WILLA who is selected ahead of Tafawut and Larkrise Star. Barry Hills tends to have his runners in good form at this time of year and this daughter of Footstepsinthesand looks the type to improve this season. She was sent off at two big prices in two maidens last year but the step up in trip looks likely to suit and if the market is positive then a bold bid is expected. Jumeirah Palm looks like one of the more interesting newcomers having cost $270,000, Kalligal and See Elsie Play have been exposed as modest, whilst Larkrise Star is not much better but she shapes as if the drop back in trip will suit. La Toya J is up in trip, whilst Tafawut was not sighted in a decent Newmarket maiden in August but she did start at 4/1 when trained by Barry Hills. With Rock D'argent, a half-sister to the stayer Winged D'Argent likely to need further in time, we are happy to stick with Lady Willa as the selection.
