Verdict

OLD PAINLESS, who has only had four runs under Rules, jumped like an old hand on his fencing bow at Plumpton and it will be a surprise if he hasn’t made enough progress since to defy a penalty. Ned Tanner was well behind Brayhill here on his chasing debut but jumped much better when coming good on a return visit and there may not be much between the pair today. Captain Quint is preferred to Le Cheval Noir of Rose Dobbin’s pair while Universal Folly looks the pick of Nicky Richards’ two runners. Bill Baxter beat a subsequent winner at Lingfield while Eyeofthescorpion should make a chaser.
