In depth
Verdict
On paper this is a match between Mini Beck and WYMOTT and the latter gets the vote, while Humbie is a potential improver. The selection shaped as if in need of this extra couple of furlongs when runner-up over 2m 4f at Carlisle last time. He enjoys getting his toe in and represents a yard in form, so we will give him the nod. Mini Beck has an unusual profile in that he is rising 11-years-old after just four starts under rules. He put in a couple of respectable efforts in defeat in the spring, but is unproven on soft ground and is unlikely to find as much improvement as the selection. Humbie made a pleasing debut over course and distance last month and he should come on a fair bit for that, so he may well give the other pair plenty to think about, while Comeththehour, four times a runner-up in Irish points, should handle conditions, and would be more interesting if backed. River Music represents powerful connections and it would be no surprise if he were capable of better than we have seen so far, but preference is for Wymott.
