In depth

Verdict

A race that has cut up at the five-day stage but thankfully this has meant that more of the runners get into the handicap proper. Donallach Mor heads the weights. He has now left the care of Venetia Williams and has been conspicious by his absences from the racetrack. If his new trainer has found the key, he has to be considered but we'll be keeping a watching brief on this occasion. Weaver George has been out of form of late and strictly on the book, he shouldn't win here. However, he is a multiple course winner and even at twelve years of age, the return to familiar surroundings may liven him up. Harleidalus had the beating of the ultra-consistent Divet Hill last season but there has been little to write home about this time around. Strong Tartan should strip fitter for a run over the hurdles while it is difficult to guess whether it will be a going day for Supreme Soviet. The TEAMtalk selection is Charlieadams. The former hunter-chaser ruined his chances last time out with some rare jumping errors but he is fairly consistent and far from shy in a battle.
