MAJOR MALARCHY is very much hit-and-miss but hopefully if on a going day, the five year-old will take all the beating. Having proved himself a progressive sort throughout the latter stages of last season, his season ended disappointingly when he finished lame. He made a very satisfactory return to the racecourse two weeks ago at Aintree. 4lb higher for that effort, if he continues his rate of progression he should be difficult to beat here. Michaels Dream has finished runner-up on his last two starts. The issue with him is the testing ground here which he clearly is not as effective on while Tartan Snow has two course victories to his name and does go well fresh. Echo Point has always seemed a horse with lots of potential but has never displayed what he promised. The lightly raced Watch My Back should be watched closely in the market beforehand but Major Malarchy is given the vote.
