Demi Sang is best watched until rediscovering his form after leaving Willie Mullins to join Ben Haslam. Yorkist would have every chance on the best of his form but he seems another in search of his best and is also passed over. Both MCGROARTY and Monsieur Co have more than acceptable strike rates over fences and the pair finished third and sixth respectively in the hot Listed chase won by Azzuri at the Scottish National meeting. There was just over two lengths between them on that occasion and the Newland gelding is taken to confirm placings on identical terms.
Mcgroarty (IRE) 20-1 (10-7) Tracked winner, 3rd when blundered 9th, outpaced before next, hit 2 out (usual 3 out), never able to get back on terms, kept on flat, 3rd of 12, 11l behind Azzuri (10-2) at Ayr 2m hcp lst (1) gd in Apr.
Demi Sang (FR) 40-1 (10-9) Held up in rear, well beaten when not fluent 4 out, pulled up before 2 out, at Aintree 2m hcp (1) sft in Apr.
Yorkist (IRE) 5-1 (11-5) Always in rear, well beaten 4 out, last of 5, 26 3/4l behind Ballywood (11-12) at Ludlow 2m hcp (2) gs in Mar.
Monsieur Co (FR) 12-1 (10-0) Behind, not fluent 8th, soon struggling, never involved, 6th of 12, 13 1/4l behind Azzuri (10-2) at Ayr 2m hcp lst (1) gd in Apr.
