Sponthus has been hard to train but clearly has ability. Hall Lane and Hurricane Bay fought out a finish at Wetherby with the former prevailing by a neck. The third has won since and so has Lucy Wadham’s charge, who may do best of that pair today. SUPREME GIFT had shown no wayward tendencies at Uttoxeter so his mishap at Newcastle was unexpected. He’s placed twice around here in bumpers and may be worth another chance. Upagainstit is improving with experience and looks the pick of the remainder.
