In depth

Verdict

Genuflex is eased in grade but the most exposed of these. Lifetime Legend was keeping on when second at Wetherby but the winner of that contest has been well beaten since. REWIRED wasn’t given a hard time when runner-up to the well-regarded Iceo at Kempton. Twice a winner on the Flat, Richard Newland’s juvenile can build on that experience here and get the better of Collingham, having a first run away from Musselburgh, and Leicester maiden winner Parliament Hill. Kotmask won easily at Fontwell and has scope but his form has yet to be franked.

Collingham (GER) 85-40 (11-4) Chased leader, pushed along to keep pace 3 out, challenged leader 2 out but soon outpaced, kept on same pace from last, lost 2nd close home, 3rd of 6, 7 1/4l behind Inca Prince (11-4) at Musselburgh 2m (4) gs in Jan.

Genuflex 50-1 (11-0) In rear, ridden 3 out, soon beaten, never in contention, 10th of 11, dist behind Porticello (11-0) at Chepstow 2m (1) sft in Dec.

Kotmask (FR) 7-2 (10-12) Mid-division, stumbled on landing 1st, chased leaders after 5th, headway over 4 out, challenged 2 out, led before last, driven out flat and extended lead closing stages, won at Fontwell 2m 2f (4) gs in Dec beating Boulette (11-5) by 12l, 10 ran.

Lifetime Legend (IRE) 4-1 (10-12) Close up, chased winner 3 out, ridden next, stayed on towards finish, 2nd of 7, 1 3/4l behind Kayfast Warrior (10-12) at Wetherby 2m (4) sft in Dec.

Parliament Hill 15-8 (10-12) Chased leaders, pressed leader before 3 out, led narrowly before 2 out, ridden before last, pushed out run-in, ran on well, readily, won at Leicester 2m mdn (4) gs in Nov beating Krypton Gold (10-12) by 5 1/2l, 9 ran.
