In depth

Verdict

A moderate affair in which New Wave is tentatively selected ahead of Oristano and No Greater Love. New Wave is at least in a modicum of form and ran well on his latest outing despite being some way out of the handicap. Punters should expect to see him held up in the early stages. Oristano is the unknown quantity as his better form has obtained overseas. This is a weaker race than the Stratford maiden that he contested last month and he cannot be discounted. No Greater Love won a recent seller on the level. His form over hurdles regressed after a fair effort at Wetherby so the jury is out at present. Bolitree Bob could be a factor if reproducing a run at Ludlow behind Erica's Charm. Ballyboe Boy does not sparkle on the recent form evidence but he has won previously on the surface and is watched in the market. New Wave can gain compensation for a series of fair efforts.
