keen, mistake first, led after first, ridden and headed after 4 out, soon weakened, pulled up before 2 out
tracked leaders, ridden over 3 out, soon one pace
held up, never dangerous, behind and blundered last
held up in rear, behind from 4 out (dismounted)
tracked leaders, headway 5th, led after 4 out, headed next, kept on one pace
held up, headway over 3 out, chased leader over 2 out, every chance from 2 out, led flat, ridden out
This does not look to be the strongest of the two divisions and while Lagosta is undoubtedly exposed; anything that beats him will need to produce a performance of 100+ to do so. Trusted Instinct was rated 75 on the flat for Dermot Weld and recently won a maiden at Fairyhouse on the flat. Fantastico looks an interesting prospect. The much under-rated Kate Walton has him under her care and it will be interesting to see what she has managed to achieve for the switch from Sylvester Kirk. Niembro ran far better than his odds suggested when fourth to Mexican Pete at the track in October. Royal Twist was plating class on the flat for Tom Tate and it is a slight negative that the trainer of such greats as Ask Tom and Europa should let him go to John Wainwright. Retail Therapy was well held on his flat runs and looks hard to fancy. Lagosta is recommended by default but Fantastico is watched in the market for any positive vibes.
