Verdict
Captain Hox and CYRUS DARIUS both beat odds-on favourites to get off the mark last time. The former is much improved this year but the latter probably has the greater scope and couldn't have been more impressive at Newcastle on his debut over timber - Malcolm Jefferson's gelding looks the one to beat. Chain Of Beacons wasn't disgraced when fourth at Kelso in January but needs to improve if he's to trouble the likely market principals while Lockedoutaheaven was still beaten 23 lengths when second here 12 days ago.
