In depth

Verdict

MIAH GRACE (NAP) won easily here in October then just failed to hold off Big Bad Bear in a better race at Wetherby. She has to concede her penalty to hurdling newcomer Legends Ryde, who won a Carlisle bumper before beaten 2 lengths in a Listed bumper at Cheltenham. Experience may just win out on this occasion while another Carlisle bumper winner, Stainsby Girl, was beaten a long way into second on her hurdling bow at Ayr. Sophie Fatale was a 66/1 chance on her debut over timber here in March but belied her odds with a fine run behind the long odds-on Lord Yeats with the remainder beaten a long way. Sandy Thomson's mare would be a threat if ready after her long absence.
