CRESSWELL LEGEND (NAP) was just beaten by an in-form rival over a shorter trip at Perth on his reappearance. He was aggressively ridden that day to make the most of his stamina so today’s distance will suit and his stable could not be in better form. Scoop The Pot has been unlucky not to win over fences so far and will no doubt be thereabouts again under the champion jockey, though he’s edging up the weights again. Leith Hill Lad was in good form in the spring but Drovers Lane is not facing an easy task on his first try over fences, though is far less exposed than Travertine.
Cresswell Legend 5-4fav (11-2) Led, ridden before 3 out, headed last, switched left and rallied flat, stayed on, just held, 2nd of 7, hd behind Cubomania (11-12) at Perth 2m 4f (3) gd in Sep.
Scoop The Pot (IRE) 3-1fav (11-12) Mid-division, headway and mistake 14th, chased winner and every chance when went left and mistake 2 out, soon ridden, 2 lengths down when not fluent last, rallied towards finish, not quite reach winner, 2nd of 10, 1/2l behind Top Chief (10-0) at Newton Abbot 3m 2f hcp (3) gs in Sep.
Drovers Lane (IRE) 8-11fav (11-10) With winner and clear of rest, challenged after 3 out, ridden and every chance next, one pace before last, kept on but no impression flat, 2nd of 8, 2 1/4l behind Yensir (12-2) at Newton Abbot 2m 2f (4) gf in Aug.
Leith Hill Lad 12-1 (12-0) Soon 2nd, led 3rd, headed 6th, not fluent and led next, headed 10th, stayed on same pace from 3 out, 3rd of 11, 10 1/4l behind Good Man Vinnie (11-1) at Uttoxeter 3m 2f hcp (3) gd in May.
