Gondolin is selected ahead of Needle Prick and Rockwithacaveman, while a betting move in the direction of Ted Moss would be interesting. The last named is lightly raced and, as he is bred to get a trip, he may well relish this test of his stamina. The booking of in-form Richard Johnson is a plus and a bold bid looks to be assured. Rockwithacaveman represents top connections and is certainly bred to win races; so even though his previous efforts have been uninspiring he cannot be ruled out in such a weak contest. Neither can Needle Prick, who has at least won a race and has very little to find at this level - even under top weight. However, Gondolin has been finding life hard in novice company lately and is fancied to appreciate this ease in grade. So he just edges a very cagey vote of confidence.
