Verdict

NEWTON TONIC can give Charlie Longsdon and Felix De Giles a quick double as he was having only his second start over fences when winning by nine lengths at Huntingdon last month. He has to prove an ability to handle this surface but so do most of his rivals including Newton Abbot winner Referent and Tribal Dance, though the latter did win on soft ground at Fontwell in November. Scotsbrook Cloud is definitely better on faster going and hasn't shown much over fences so far while Ballintubber Cross has his first run since January and makes his debut over the larger obstacles.
