Binocular can make a winning debut at the expense of Longquan, Diriculous, Royal Guest and Woqoodd. The well-named Binocular, by Observatory out of a dam that is related to Zafonic, should know what is required first time, especially as Barry Hills does not waste his visits to Haydock. He holds no big-race entries at present, and has been found a low-key race to start his career, so is taken to make the most of the opportunity. Longquan in contrast has had four outings already, and has had the misfortune to find one or two too good on each of his last three starts, most recently behind Thunder Storm at Newbury. That form should be good enough to put him in the frame at least. Diriculous is by Diktat but hails from a line of prolific five-furlong winners, so is perhaps best watched for the time being. Royal Guest has been well galloped at Lambourn, while Woqoodd will have learnt form his Windsor debut, but needs to show more. While respecting the claims of Longquan, we shall take a chance with Binocular.
