In depth

Verdict

None of this quintet are easy to rule out. Grove Silver appeared to benefit from the drop in distance at Carlisle and never saw another rival. The grey will probably try and make all again but is taking on better opposition today off a 7lb higher mark. Clan Legend’s Kelso win earlier this month has been franked but he’s done all of his winning over shorter trips. Spanish Fleet keeps finding one too good and needs some help from the handicapper but Buttercup is on a roll and the mare will make a bold bid to defy her penalty. WOLF SWORD is still creeping up the weights but is ultra-consistent and made an in-form On The Road pull out all the stops at Sedgefield earlier this month - he is taken to pick up the winning thread again.
