The Philip Hobbs-trained Dream Alliance stayed on well at Chepstow in the mud in the Welsh National last time to get the better of the running on Silver By Nature and Richard Lee's Le Beau Bai but he has been harshly punished by the handicapper for that success having been raised 9lbs and preference is for another that finished behind him there in COE. Sue Smith's gelding never recovered following a bad mistake three out having made much of the running that day and he looks worth another chance on ground conditions that suit. Silver By Nature has gone up 7lbs for his run in the Welsh National and of more interest may be the fourth in that race the Venetia Williams-trained Miko de Beauchene, who can race off the same mark again today. Stable companion Mon Mome is a thorough stayer and showed his ability when landing last season's Grand National but the Aintree spectacular is likely to be his target again this term so he may be best watched. According To Pete has to be considered and he seems to be relatively well treated, while Our Vic has been a wonderful servant to David Pipe but has yet to prove that he stays this far and preference is for Coe in the hope that his jumping holds up better than last time.
